OIE reported a sudden increase of mortality in pigs due to African swine fever (ASF) in the states Lagos and Abia. The outbreak started in February with minimal fatality, in May/June the number of mortalities increased drastically. The affected population is in a large pig farm settlement that feeds pig markets within and outside the country. Three other states report the same pattern and await laboratory confirmation.

OIE reported small hive beetle infestation (Aethina tumida) affecting bees in an apiary Pereira, Risaralda. This is the first report in the country and the source of the origin is not currently clear.
