OIE reported bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Somerset, England. Isolated, single case of BSE has been confirmed in a 6½-year-old indigenous cow on a dairy farm. The animal was not presented for slaughter and did not enter the food chain. There is no threat to food safety or human health.
