The OC Health Care Agency reported the first human case of West Nile virus (WNV) identified this year in Orange County.

First discovery of St. Louis encephalitis (SLEV) in mosquitoes. SLEV reemerged in California in 2015 after being undetected for 12 years, and this is the first detection in Los Angeles County for the 2019 mosquito season.

According to the Kern County Public Health Department, 2 more cases of West Nile virus (WNV) were found in the county, bringing the total cases to 12. Kern County ranks 2 in the number of total cases behind Fresno County with 44 cases. Other counties with reported cases include Butte County with 4, Imperial with 3, and Amador with 1.
