The National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova informed WOAH that a tabletop simulation exercise on avian influenza will take place in Chisinau from 27 to 28 October 2022, at the Disease Control Center (DCC) level. The aim of the exercise is to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the contingency plan and improve the ability to respond in an event of an outbreak.

WOAH reported highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 in the municipality of Morelos. The virus was detected in a blue-winged teal that did not show clinical signs, during active epidemiological surveillance of avian influenza in wild birds.

WOAH reported African swine fever (ASF) in an aggregation of villages in the Kalomo District, Southern Province, affecting pigs in a traditional management system.
