The latest Rabies Hero Award recipient, Dr Imam Mzimbiri, has done a lot of work for over a decade helping to keep rabies at bay around the Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania, spending months away from his wife and children.

It’s World Rabies Day, and people around the globe are taking action to help towards rabies elimination. Many of them came together through #Rabies360Challenge, raising awareness about the impact of rabies and its prevention.

World Rabies Day (WRD) is September 28th and have been preparing for it once again. We have taken the #Rabies360Challenge that we started last year and expanded on the idea. It has been wonderful seeing all the different activities that people have taken on.

We are well into September now, and with World Rabies Day 2021 getting close, it’s time to take a look at some of the wonderful examples from people all over the world spreading the message about rabies elimination, as part of their #Rabies360Challenge.

Eliminating rabies deaths is possible and the vaccination of dogs is central to achieving this.

Our latest Rabies Hero Award recipient, Professor Anthony R. Fooks, has a long history of commitment to rabies elimination globally, collaborating across regions and organisations. See here a fascinating account of some of his achievements in pictures.

The Rabies Hero Awards recognize those who make a difference in the fight against this disease. We want the world to hear about their amazing efforts to bring us closer to the rabies elimination goal.

Change can be challenging, but together, as a community, we can support each other and reach our goal of One Health One Welfare.
